Healthy Weight Loss Diet

5 December 2008

It is amazing to see the amount of people who think that the surest way to lose excess pounds is by starvation and though it might yield some result immediately, but no physician in his right mind would advocate such a desperate measure. Health weight loss diets are only ever recommended since such radical steps only leave the body weak with an even weaker immune system. The best healthy weight loss diets would advocate two things: keep the calories limited to the exact requirement and supply the body with necessary nutrients during dieting.

Most people do not take the need for good rest too seriously in the overall maintenance of good health, as it is equally important as burning all the excess calories which accumulate in the fat in the body. Often it is the women’s magazines which are too blame for pushing crazy diets based on little scientific fact expecting the overweight person to live on a specific type of food and then expect them to believe that this is a healthy weight loss plan. Take the instance of taking boiled vegetables with chicken, salad and fruits: while this is not bad to begin with, it is to be remembered that a healthy weight loss diet would include several other nutrients which simply boiled vegetables may not contain. The vast majority of individuals consuming a diet that is lead up of these food groups may lose weight and feel a little better but will finally fail in their healthy weight loss as they become unbelievably bored by the same food every day.

If you want to make the best out of your healthy weight loss diet plan, you have to limit your calorie intake, do frequent physical exercises, even if this means walking for 30 minutes and always get good rest. Sleep is an astonishingly serious part of our lives - something which medical science is only just starting to comprehend but it is common amongst people with weight problems to eat during the night, often not remembering they have done it. If you are somebody who does rise in the night to feast, you are doing nothing but harm to your body and will be blowing all the effort you have made, following a healthy weight loss diet program with exercise, to burn off calories. You do not have to pursue a healthy weight loss program for very long before your body will start observing the difference with increased energy levels, better sleep and feeling healthier which also means you will be less prone to illness.

The other important aspect for following a healthy weight loss diet is that you start to feel good about the way you look and feel: entertaining negative feelings about self can do more harm than anything else. You can’t ask miracles from your body because it responds in a certain rhythm to physical input and overweight people who desperately want to slim down often have the tendency to work themselves out in tiresome physical exercises. To ensure any healthy weight loss program works for you, you have to back it with frequent physical workouts, which is where overweight individuals tend to overdo, but remember start slowly with regular jogging or swimming and when your energy levels have increased, join a gym. The moot point here is that you should take one step at a time and never try to overdo anything until such times that you feel completely comfortable with your workouts.

I'm starting my "diet" any healthy recipes & tips !?

30 December 2008

So it isn't really a diet I just want to start eating healthier.
I'd like to know what kind of healthy food I need to start buying.
Also any healthy recipes would be reeeeeeallly appreciated.
Any other tips would be nice too :D
for a workable diet -
here is what my dietician suggests - follow a practical diet. start your meal with a soup or a huge salad. this fills u up. Make sure your plate has this ratio - 50% veg, 25% carb(potatoes, corn and peas come in carbs category), 25% protein.this will prevent cravings too.an occassional treat is OK. have a snack every three hours. fruit (ideally berries) or soy nuts. just 2 tbsp of soya subsides hunger pangs. switch from white rice and bread to brown. eat 900gms of veggies a day.Lose a kilo a week. that is permanent loss. pick an exercise regime you like.
get a pedometer and try to take 10,000 steps everyday.

meal ideas - have soupy meals. put chicken and veg pieces in stock. let it come to a boil. 0 fat and power-packed.

the 3 golden rules to language - read it, speak it, listen to it. so read atleast a book a week. it can be a romance or even archie comics, but read! dont be afraid to speak english. if u make a mistake, someone will correct you. and you will learn. watch a lot of english movies and TV programmes. it will help you get used to the different accents, and also help you learn contemporary lingo.

Does anyone have any home-cooked healthy recipes for a cat?

30 December 2008

I heard that the healthiest way to feed your cat and ensure they are getting the recommended nutrients is to just cook everything for them yourself. Store-bought cat food can be very misleading. Does anyone out there have any recipes for me?

I don't have recipes, but if you buy cat food that says 100% Nutritionally Complete on the label, your cat will get all the nutrients s/he needs. If you're still concerned, buy some cat vitamins, they're available in the pet supplies section of most stores. I give them to my cat to make up any vitamins he may miss by being so picky.

Im trying to lose weight! :)
Low Fat Baked Greek Tilapia

Naturally low fat, tilapia is a wonderfully mild, meaty, inexpensive fish that lends itself to all kinds of flavors. Serve this Greek-style dish with steamed vegetables and either couscous or rice–whole grain, of course.

INGREDIENTS:
* 4 Tilapia fillets
* 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
* Juice of 1 large lemon
* 2 tsp oregano
* 1/2 tsp paprika
* Freshly ground black pepper

PREPARATION:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Spray an 11-inch by 7-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. In a small bowl, combine olive oil, lemon juice, oregano, paprika and ground pepper. Lay Tilapia fillets in a single layer in the baking dish.
Drizzle oil, lemon and herb mixture over the fish. Cover with foil and bake for 15-18 minutes.
Serve with steamed vegetables and whole grain couscous or rice.
